The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for the enforcement of New York State Building Code and the Code of the Village of Caledonia. A wide variety of duties are performed:
Issuance of permits related to municipal code including zoning, land use, planning and design review.
Performs field inspections and enforces land use laws pertaining to public welfare, safety, public nuisance, and property maintenance and structure design.
Handles trash and miscellaneous junk, long grass/weeds, burning violations and unregistered vehicles.
Presentation of periodic reports to the Village Board.
Attends court proceedings when deemed necessary to represent the village.
Works with the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board to carry out decisions.
Maintains code enforcement certification.
Issues certificates of occupancy or certificate of compliance.
